Leeds Conservatoire has been awarded Joint Audio Media Education Support (JAMES) accreditation for its BA (Hons) Music (Production) degree.
JAMES is a consortium of music, entertainment and media industry organisations collaborating in the support of education and promotion of excellence. The industry-wide renowned accreditation endorses relevance, quality and continuing innovation throughout the student curriculum.
“We’re thrilled to receive JAMES accreditation for our BA in Music Production,” said Vice Principal & Director of Curriculum, Joe Wilson.
“We’re proud of the expertise and innovation within our Production faculty, which alongside our state-of-the-art facilities, provide an excellent student experience. We feel that the JAMES accreditation really backs up the rigorous, comprehensive approach we take to preparing our students for the demands of an ever-evolving industry.”
The JAMES accreditation was awarded to LCoM in December 2017 and will be in place initially for two years, meaning that students graduating between 2018 and 2020 will have completed a JAMES accredited course. The assessors applauded the fact that the Music Production course reflects the professional world in the learning environment, and that students are taught by practicing professionals.
The assessors were also pleased to learn that LCoM is at the centre of a creative hub, surrounded by not only the BBC with whom they have creative links but also theatres and the Northern Ballet. They also commended the very apparent student focus on the course and the fact that lecturers are accessible, supportive and socially involved with the student body.
