Tom Greed enjoys a varied musical career in orchestral playing, chamber music and education work. Hailing from a musical family, he first took up the violin at the age of 6 with his father, David Greed.

He has since studied the violin with Devorina Gamalova, Malcolm Layfield, and with Andrew Sherwood at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. He is a regular extra player with the Orchestra of Opera North and has performed with a number of other professional orchestras including Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Viva, Manchester Camerata, Manchester Concert Orchestra and the Heritage Orchestra.

Recording sessions at Abbey Road Studios and Air Lyndhurst in London have seen him perform on Hollywood and Independent film soundtracks. He has performed in some of Europe’s most prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Royal Opera House, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, St John’s Smith Square and Queen Elizabeth Hall as well as arena venues including the MEN arena, Birmingham arena and the O2 arena. Tom has appeared as a soloist with orchestras across the UK including the Orchestra of the Square Chapel in Halifax, Sinfonia of Leeds, Helix Ensemble and Cleveland Philharmonic with the repertoire of Mozart, Bach and Vaughan-Williams. Previous teaching positions have included Yorkshire Young Musicians in Leeds, Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service and occasional work for the In Harmony music education project in Leeds.

Tom is also the director of Avenue Ensemble, an innovative chamber music collective based in Leeds aimed at taking classical music, film & TV music and more into unusual spaces and more relaxed settings, and targeting younger & more diverse audiences by making this kind of music accessible to all.
