Enrolment Information for Returning Students

Priority enrolment and bursary applications for returning students opens today. New Students will be able to apply where there are vacancies from 4 May 2022. If you would like any help completing the form please get in touch with us at Junior@lcm.ac.uk or arrange a time to visit in person on Saturday.

Priority Enrolment for September 2022

Please find the enrolment form in the enrolment email or on Space. You will be asked questions about the preference for the type of band/ensemble so we can give first choice to our existing students. We also need to collect information about the choice of course, bursaries, timetable options, experience, contact details, and school information. Please allow up to half an hour to complete the form. Lesson options will be sent out at the beginning of July.

LJC webpages have been updated with course information, but do get in touch with us if you are unsure or would like advice.

2022-23 Key Information

Timetable
• LJC is remaining on a two-week rota with weeks A and B
• All students take a four-subject timetable
• Times are 9:00AM - 1:30PM with two short breaks included
• Term Dates for 2022-23 are available on the website

Fees
• It is important to us that no one says no to accessing our provision due to the cost. We have a bursary fund supported by the conservatoire’s Access Agreement, The Leverhulme Trust, The Wolfson Foundation, and The Matthew Nichols Foundation with a number of full scholarships available for those families in financial need. Applications can be made through the enrolment form.
• Fees have been reviewed against similar institutions to ensure that LJC is financially sustainable for the long term. The hourly rate is £8.67 an hour for group classes and £46 per hour for additional 1-1 lessons.
• Payment is in either full, or 10 monthly payments by standing order.

Course Updates

Performance +

New for 2022/23, the Performance+ course will now have the option of 28 x 1 hour 1-1 lessons on your primary instrument/voice and 28 x 30 minute 1-1 lessons on your second study instrument. If you do not play a second instrument, you will have the opportunity to learn a new one.

All other courses have remained the same.

If you have any queries, do get in touch with us at Junior@lcm.ac.uk, we are happy to arrange a time to talk on either Saturdays in person or online during the week.

LJC Information

Covid Safety

Government guidance now allows for masks for not to be worn in classrooms. Covid levels are still high in the area and Leeds Conservatoire would like to support any student or member of staff who wish to continue wearing a mask in lessons.

We continue to encourage staff, students and visitors to take a lateral flow test twice a week. Testing is important as about 1 in 3 people with Covid-19 do not have any symptoms. Lateral flow tests can detect the virus in people without symptoms and prevent them from unknowingly passing it on to others.

Bringing equipment

Please remind students to bring everything they need for their lessons that isn’t already in the rooms. For example, anyone doing written work must bring a pencil, drummers should bring drum sticks, guitarists should bring a lead.

Absences

To report an absence, please email Junior@lcm.ac.uk as soon as possible. This email inbox is monitored all morning.

Leaving early

If you need to leave early, please ask your parent/carer to email Junior@lcm.ac.uk with a reason, time you will be leaving and who will be collecting you. You will then need to wait in the reception until your parent/carer has arrived to collect.
