What has been the most important thing you've learned at LCoM?

I have learnt what kind of musician I want to be. I feel like I've managed to find out exactly the kind of music I want to write.

What are you planning on doing next after you leave LCoM?

As soon as I can get back to gigging again I will! I am very much missing being on stage. I am also planning to record my debut album with a lovely band of musicians that I met during my time at LCoM. It's going to be produced by LCoM Alumnus and prolific folk producer Andy Bell so I'm super excited to get the album underway!

Is there anything you've encountered over the last few years that has really made you push yourself as a musician or anything new that you had not tried before?

Exploring different tunings and learning to co-write with different people.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given at LCoM?

You have to establish yourself within a music scene outside of the LCoM bubble alongside your studies.

What has been the best project / opportunity you've had during your degree?

This is so hard to choose! I think having the opportunity to work with my band on my own original material has to be up there for me but also calling in a ceilidh band has been so much fun and a skill that I would have never learnt had it not been for the musicians I have met along the way.

What has been the biggest challenge and how has this helped you develop?

Realising that I don't have time to do absolutely everything that I would like to. Learning to prioritise certain projects has been a super important learning curve for me.

What is your favourite LCoM memory?

Performing at the Folk Showcase with my solo band was a great memory. It was the first time we'd played in front of an audience and I'd never felt so at home on stage with a bunch of musicians as I did with that wonderful bunch. Big up Jay, Mia, Louis and Rob!

What advice would you give to others thinking of applying to your course at LCoM?

Get stuck in and play with as many musicians as you can!

How would you describe your experience at LCoM in three words?

Hectic, innovative, thrilling.
