International FAQs

Can I begin study in January?

No, all of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses start in September.

What if I am unable to start my course on time?

If there are any personal circumstances that may delay your arrival, you must contact internationaladmissions@lcm.ac.uk as soon possible to discuss the situation.

What are the English requirements?

The English requirements vary depending on whether you require a visa to study in the UK, and whether English is the main spoken language in your home country.

Our English Language Entry Requirements table provides details on any exams or qualifications you may need to take.

Do you have any well-known tutors?

All our tutors are active musicians and experts in their fields, and we also welcome many high profile visiting professors and artists who work closely with students and give talks, concerts and workshops.

Read our tutor profiles.

Do you have many overseas students?

We have roughly 90 international students from around 25 countries enrolled on our undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and the number of new international students enrolling with us has increased every year for the last three years.

Can I apply for a place, and then defer my entry for a year?

Usually not, but if your offer is unconditional and you also do not require a visa to study in the UK then deferral may be possible in extenuating circumstances.

How do I pay my tuition fees?

For more information see Fees and Funding.

Can I access any help with living costs?

You will need to ensure that you can support yourself entirely for the duration of your time in the UK, as international students have no recourse to public funds. Successful applicants will receive comprehensive information about costs before their arrival in the UK.

For more information see Fees and Funding.

Applicants from outside the EU will automatically be considered for an Excellence Scholarship. These are awarded on merit based on the strength of your audition, and constitute a £2,000 fee discount. For every year that you pass without re-assessments, your scholarship will also apply to the following year’s fees. The fee discount does not apply to tuition fees for the foundation year, so applicants for four year BA with Foundation courses who qualify for an Excellence Scholarship must first pass their foundation year without reassessments before they can receive it.
