A Leeds Conservatoire graduate has won a major international music competition and, as such, is scheduled to perform solo at New York’s Carnegie Hall on 15 July.
Samuel Moore, who studied Jazz, was a First Category prize winner in the 2023 Manhattan International Music Competition. The competition has become a major symbol of New York's classical music life. Its purpose is to discover artists of outstanding personality and provide awards that can launch international careers.
The seventh Manhattan International Music Competition was designed as an online event so that musicians could show their potential through video recordings, with no travel required.

Samuel is fast establishing himself as one of Europe’s leading flamenco musicians. Hailed as “a fantastic flamenco guitarist” (BBC Radio 3), Samuel has performed in venues across the UK, Europe and North America. In solo recitals Samuel is known for presenting beautifully crafted flamenco guitar sets that bring to life the rich colours, rhythms and sounds of Andalucía.
Samuel’s distinctive performance approach places a particular emphasis on talking to the audience. His explanations of repertoire offer illuminating and thought provoking insights into the rich culture and history of flamenco. Through this, Samuel seeks to give his audiences a uniquely accessible and enriching concert experience, connecting them on a deep level to the music they're hearing.
In 2019 Samuel released his debut album. Recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, ‘Guitar the Heart of Spain’ marked the culmination of Samuel’s unique collaboration with the classical guitarist Michael Christian Durrant. Samuel’s solo album ‘Flamenco Masters’ is due for release in 2024.
