In this Episode, Cam Moitt chats with Dan Ezard and Chris Milnes on their experiences working as Session Musicians. 

About the guests: 

Dan Ezard 

Hailing from London, Dan Ezard is a seasoned bass player and dedicated music educator passionate about sharing his extensive industry experience and expertise. With an impressive live and studio performance history that includes working with renowned artists and bands such as Gabrielle, Il Divo, and Sophie Ellis Bextor, Dan has honed his skills. His comprehensive understanding of the importance of music education allows him to make a meaningful impact on his student’s development and success.

As a professional music educator, Dan has accumulated thousands of hours of teaching experience, guiding aspiring musicians to reach their full potential. His commitment to excellence in music education is evident through his various teaching roles, including serving as the Head of Bass Guitar at Exeter College and as a guitar and bass teacher at prestigious schools in London. Through his personalised approach, Dan empowers his students to build a solid foundation in technique and performance while cultivating a lifelong love for music.

Chris Milnes

Chris is a multi instrumentalist who has been touring the world with Hollow Coves since 2018. Chris plays guitar, bass and keys as part of the four piece band and is also their Tour Manager. Chris also plays guitar with an artist called bored at my grandmas house. As well as his work as a performing musician, Chris is part of a management company based in Montreal, called Lighter Than Air, who manage artists such as Half Moon Run, Billianne and Ouri.

Chris has worked as a production manager or tour manager on many tours for Hollow Coves, AR/CO and Far Caspian. These include an arena tour with 5 seconds of summer in Europe, and tour with The Luminers in Australia.

Chris is also a capable front of house sound engineer and has toured the UK, Europe and the USA as a live sound engineer with bands such as Far Caspian, clean cut kid and ar/co.

As well as the above, Chris is a prolific songwriter and collaborator, and has an electronic music solo project named “Winemaker”, which has received international press and Spotify editorial playlisting. Chris is also part of a writing trio called “slowshape” and writes alongside a singer in a pop project called “cryparty”.

Chris also runs an audio visual company called Good Boy Productions who work with Yorkshire based bands and locations to create beautiful and unique live sessions in interesting places that showcase Yorkshire.
