Rosie is a voice coach and actor from Tyne & Wear. She has recently finished studying on MA Voice Studies at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where she also trained on BA (Hons) Acting, graduating in 2009.
Rosie is a keen advocate for celebrating the unique beauty of peoples natural accents and voices. Her research to date has been focussed on decentring historical power structures in voice work to create equitable and inclusive voice practices, most recently working on clarity and articulation. She is passionate about voice into text work, vocal technique, and stagecraft, and has been on a journey of discovery with embodied voice work. Voice practices she has experience of include Barbara Houseman, Cicely Berry, Linklater, Lessac, Fitzmaurice, Frankie Armstrong, Wolfsohn and Hart, Patsy Rodenburg.
Her acting work has in recent years focussed heavily on verbatim theatre, where she has gained many skills in creating or replicating multiple voices and characters. She is highly experienced in multi-roling, most recently appearing in Jim Cartwright's 'Road' at Northern Stage (Oct '21). Other acting credits include 'Leaving' by Paddy Campbell (Northern Stage & UK Tour); 'Locker Room Talk' by Gary McNair (Live Theatre) & BBC Radio 3's 'Free Thinking Festival'. Rosie is an Associate Artist of Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle, where she has been collaborating and performing since 2013, she was also responsible for its transition from 'room above a pub' to its first independent venue as Venue Manager alongside Artistic & Executive Director Ali Pritchard.
As a dyslexic person, Rosie is sensitive to addressing the struggles neurodivergent learners often face in the acting studio. She is committed to engaging in an ongoing critical dialogue with her practice and with others regarding an anti-racist, anti-oppressive and inclusive teaching environment.
